  1. Registration Process

The IMM GSM requires that all new students complete the Undergraduate Registration Form or the Postgraduate Registration Form. The Exam Declaration Form must also accompany the registration form. Refer to the academic section for further details regarding admission criteria and exemptions. Students who register for the first time at the IMM GSM must submit the following documents together with their registration form, signed Examination Declaration Form and the applicable registration fees (which are not refundable) to the IMM GSM office.

Required Documents for Admission/Registration

First year students

  • Certified copy of original identity document or passport
  • Certified copy of original Grade 12 Certificate/National Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification including symbols

Transfer of Undergraduate Students from other Higher Education Institutions

  • Certified copy of original identity document
  • Certified copy of original Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Senior Certificate (NSC) or equivalent qualification including symbols
  • Certified copy of original academic records/transcripts from the previous higher education institution/s
  • Certified copy of original Certificate of Conduct

First Registration for Postgraduate Programmes

  • Certified copy of original identity document or passport
  • Certified copy of original undergraduate qualification/s
  • Certified copy of original academic records/transcripts

Foreign Students Studying in South Africa

  • Certified copy of original passport
  • Certified copy of original highest academic qualification as well as a certified copy of the SAQA Certificate
  • Certified copy of original residence/study permit
  • Certified copy of original proof of sufficient financial repatriation funds for purposes of the student's fees

The IMM GSM is a provider of distance education. There is no requirement for students to be within South Africa's borders to write examinations.

Please note:

Admission of non-South African resident students is subject to the conditions set out in the Immigration Act 13 of 2002. Successful application by a non-South African resident application depends on the following:

  • Confirmation of academic acceptance
  • Obtaining the necessary statutory documentation and state approval
  • All non-South African resident prospective students are required to submit proof of English language proficiency, which may consist of:
    • The results of the internationally-recognised IELTS test, or
    • English passed at school-leaving level (e.g. O-level or HIGCSE)

All copies of documents should be certified by a registered practitioner and should have an original signature.

No faxed or e-mailed application forms will be accepted.

  1. Dates for examination registration

Registration forms must be returned to the IMM GSM by 01 March for 1st semester registrations and 01 August for 2nd semester registrations or the next business day of any these dates fall on a Sunday.

This form must be completed, even if you have already paid your examination fees or had your fees transferred from the last examination session. We need to know what modules and where you will be writing your examinations.

  1. How long is student registration valid for?

Student registration is valid for one year. You are required to renew your registration annually. However, an Undergraduate Registration Form must be submitted as from the second semester.

You will be issued with a receipt and student card reflecting your unique IMM GSM student number, which should be quoted in all correspondence with the IMM GSM.

Students who have not registered by the due registration dates shall be liable for a late registration fee.

NOTE: A late registration fee will be payable on all forms received after the closing dates, even if payment has been timeously received.
